Choices

The choices we make along the way

Of this path that we call life

Can bring us moments of ultimate joy

Or moments of great strife.

Sometimes we’re not sure which choice to make

And we study and think profoundly,

It’s then it’s best to follow our gut

So we can, at least, sleep soundly.

Sometimes we really do know

Which choice is best for us

But desire for instant gratification

Throws consequence under the bus.

We’ll all make mistakes and bad choices

As we stumble along our way

But we can’t let them get the better of us

Only pray for better choices next day.

Facing the consequences isn’t easy

But it wasn’t promised it would be

So forgive yourself and do what you can

No matter the cost, no matter the fee.
