I can attest and confirm what Brian writes here. My mentor of 20 years ago labeled me as a “knowledge sponge”, which is a compliment I still highly treasure. As I get older, I’m so much more interested in knowing things beyond those school subjects.

I so agree and love that

I wasted a great deal of time in school that I wish I could have back.

That is a really cool compliment. I love that. “Knowledge sponge!” I’m with you too, love learning and figuring things out beyond just the classroom. Thanks so much for sharing my post. I was surprised when I saw it. Very much appreciate it.

I LOVE this! I’m going to start using “knowledge sponge.” Yes, what a great compliment. Unlike Brian, I loved school. It was not easy but I worked my hardest at it.
I love learning; and, of course, reading has been my passion since childhood. I credit my paternal grandparents with instilling a love of language and reading and cannot imagine life without it. I embrace every experience with the goal of: “What can I learn from this?”
Great post.

You are definitely a “knowledge sponge“. What makes you even more special is that you soak it all up and then you share it with all of us. I have learned so much by vicariously going on your many travels with you.
